Low Energy Cross-Sections for Positron Interactions with Cyclic Hydrocarbons
We report total cross-section measurements for positron scattering on cyclic hydrocarbons: benzene, aniline, and cyclohexane. Measurements were done by an absolute transition method in the energy range 1.5–20 eV (0.4–20 eV for cyclohexane). High cross-sections for all measured molecules were observed at low energies. In the case of cyclohexane the cross-section in the zero energy limit tends to...
متن کاملLow energy positron interactions with uracil--total scattering, positronium formation, and differential elastic scattering cross sections.
Measurements of the grand total and total positronium formation cross sections for positron scattering from uracil have been performed for energies between 1 and 180 eV, using a trap-based beam apparatus. Angular, quasi-elastic differential cross section measurements at 1, 3, 5, 10, and 20 eV are also presented and discussed. These measurements are compared to existing experimental results and ...
متن کاملLow-energy positron interactions with atoms and molecules
This paper is a review of low-energy positron interactions with atoms and molecules. Processes of interest include elastic scattering, electronic and vibrational excitation, ionization, positronium formation and annihilation. An overview is presented of the currently available theoretical and experimental techniques to study these phenomena, including the use of trap-based positron beam sources...
متن کاملCross sections and modelling results for high-energy radiation and positron beams produced within a thundercloud
Satellite measurements have revealed that thunderclouds emit flashes gamma-rays (terrestrial gamma-ray flashes/TGFs) and beams of electrons and positrons. We model the energy resolved angular distribution of these beams produced by a negative lightning leader stepping upwards in a thundercloud. First we present our results for doubly differential cross sections for Bremsstrahlung and pair produ...
متن کاملFusion cross-sections for inertial fusion energy
The application of selective resonant tunneling model is extended from d 1 t fusion to other light nucleus fusion reactions, such as d 1 d fusion and d 1 3He. In contrast to traditional formulas, the new formula for the cross-section needs only a few parameters to fit the experimental data in the energy range of interest. The features of the astrophysical S-function are derived in terms of this...
